Easing Elementary School Overcrowding

Fremont’s rapid population growth is straining classroom occupancy limits at Fremont Unified School District (FUSD) elementary schools. Today, more than 2,400 elementary students are overloaded at neighborhood schools.

In response to the district’s overwhelming facilities needs and population growth, FUSD is converting junior high schools to expanded middle school campuses for 6th to 8th graders to ease elementary school overcrowding and overloading.

Besides relieving overcrowding, middle school conversion also offers benefits across instruction and school culture.
