Free transportation

Free transportation is available for qualified low income families. An additional application and supporting documentation are required. Please visit the Free Transportation Information page for more information.

If your child rode an FUSD school bus during the 2017-2018 school year, you do NOT need to bring your student to the Transportation Department office for a photo.  We already have a photo of your student on file that will be used for the bus pass.

If your child is new to FUSD or enrolled after school picture day during the 2017-2018 school year, you need to bring your student to the Transportation Department office to take a photo for a bus pass.  We do not accept outside photographs.  Parents/guardians of students who need to take a photo may still purchase bus passes online; however, bus passes will not be issued until photos have been taken.

Overloaded students

Students who have been overloaded to a school outside their attendance area are most likely qualified for school bus transportation.  Bus routes for overloaded students are created upon purchase of a bus pass.  It typically takes about 3-5 business days to create a new bus route; however, it can take up to 2 weeks to create new routes due to high demand and variable bell schedules.  In the event that we are unable to create a bus route for an overloaded student, the parent/guardian will receive a refund.

In addition, please note that overloaded students do not automatically receive free school bus transportation.  Parents of overloaded students must either purchase a bus pass or qualify for free transportation.

Transitional Kindergarten (TK)

In general, parents are responsible for providing or arranging transportation for TK students.  Students enrolled in TK programs are eligible for school bus transportation only if an appropriate bus route already exists for kindergarten students.  New routes are not created for TK students.

After-school Programs

FUSD school buses depart the school site approximately 5 minutes after the final bell rings.  School bus transportation is not provided for after-school programs.

AC Transit

FUSD Transportation Department does not issue passes for public transit.  If you need information about fees and schedule for AC Transit or other public transit, please check directly with the public transit agency.  Some information is available on the AC Transit Routes page.
