Superintendent's Message - September 2020
Posted 9/8/20

As we move into September, I’d like to sincerely thank our staff, parents and guardians, and especially our students for their patience, resiliency and adaptability through our first days of distance learning. This is a new world for all of us, and I am very appreciative of all the work by teachers, staff and families to meet this challenge head on and create a successful start to the school year. It remains a work in progress, but I am confident we will be able to overcome any obstacles.
Our attendance has been strong – close to ninety-nine percent – so far this school year. This is a great testament to the work of our staff ensuring families are connected, and to the dedication of our students who are showing up ready to learn.
There are two things I would like you to be aware of this month:
First - the Fremont Education Foundation is coordinating a fundraiser to assist our students during distance learning. The ‘$20 in 2020’ campaign hopes to raise $250,000 to provide families with equipment needed to stay connected with their schools and teachers. The Fremont Education Foundation will match the first $25,000 in donations. You can find out more by visiting the district website, or the f-e-f’s website at Special thanks to Fremont Bank for its recent donation of $25,000 to this great cause.
Second – the district and the Board of Education will be hosting a series of virtual meet and greets to give me a chance to meet as many of you as possible and to answer your questions about Fremont Unified. There will be an event focused on each of our five attendance areas and will feature site administrators and a Board of Education Trustee. A schedule and more information will be posted soon.
Please contact my office with any questions and thank you again for your continued support in the new school year.
