Superintendent's Message - August 2020
Posted 8/4/20

Welcome to the 20-20 – 20-21 school year. My name is CJ Cammack and I am proud to join the Fremont Unified School District as its superintendent. I am honored to have been selected to represent the students, staff and parents, as well as the Fremont community as a whole.

Throughout my career in education, I was well-aware of Fremont Unified’s reputation for high-achievement and engagement, as well as its dedicated staff and supportive community. I look forward to becoming a part of this district’s culture and contributing to its success.

The new school year is arriving with unique challenges as we continue to temporarily redesign education within the challenges of COVID-19. FUSD will open the school year on August 26th under a distance learning model. While we are more than excited to someday have our students back in the classroom, our first priority is the safety of students and staff. As soon as conditions improve, we will discuss strategies for bringing students back to campus. I will keep you updated throughout the process.

In the meantime, our staff is working to put together a comprehensive distance learning plan for all grade levels. In a district as large as Fremont Unified, it’s a huge undertaking to meet the needs of nearly 35,000 students and adjustments will certainly be needed as conditions change. I ask for your patience and look forward to hearing your feedback on how we can best provide a robust learning environment during these challenging times.
The start of the school year is always a special time and despite the obstacles we are facing, I am excited for what’s to come. Please don’t hesitate to contact my office with any questions and I hope for the opportunity to meet with as many of you as possible in the near future.

On behalf of all of us at Fremont Unified, THANK YOU for your continued support and best wishes for the new school year.
