Meet Your New Principal – Jeff Evans – Mission San Jose High School
How long have you been with FUSD? – 14 years
How long have you worked in education? – 14 years
What is your background? – I grew up in Fremont and graduated from American High School. I knew by my senior year of high school that I wanted to be a teacher as I had many teachers that inspired me. I got my degree and then returned to Fremont to teach and have been here ever since.
What will you bring to your school? – Having spent my entire career in education at Mission San Jose High School, I know the school, students, and community very well. I love being a part of this community and bring a passion to ensure the continued success of all students.
What is your educational philosophy? – My educational philosophy is that every student has an opportunity to be successful. It is our jobs as educators, parents, and the community to help that student find that success. Furthermore, success is not just grades or college, it is developing a well-rounded young adult who can go out into the world and succeed in whatever field they so choose.
What can students/families expect this year? – Students and families can expect to be part of the process this year. As a new principal, I encourage their feedback and ideas. Mission San Jose High School is a wonderful school and I intend to keep it that way. One area I am passionate about is mental health support for our students, so they can expect to see more resources to utilize.
Anything else you’d like the school community to know about you? – I am excited about the new school year! We have already been back for some time now to ensure a smooth start. We look forward to seeing all students back on campus again!
