FUSD Continues to Reduce Paper Waste Through e-Flyer Distribution
Posted 8/7/19

Now in its fourth year, the partnership between the Fremont Unified School District (FUSD) and Peachjar continues to show a sharp reduction in the use of paper throughout the District.

In October 2016, FUSD turned over its distribution of school and district fliers, newsletters and other information to families to Peachjar. The San Diego-based company works with school districts across the country providing electronic distribution of flyers in an effort to reduce the use of paper in schools.  During the 2018-19 school year, FUSD was estimated to have saved over 7.8 million pages – the equivalent of 887 trees – by distributing materials via email rather than paper copies. In addition to the positive environmental impact, the service has saved FUSD thousands of dollars in reduced paper costs.

Over 30,000 FUSD parents and family members have subscribed to Peachjar. With the start of a new school year, families not currently signed up for the service will soon receive information on how to create an account to receive school flyers and other information via email.
